The Trinity Health Foundation hosted a community health brainstorming event on October 31, 2012, at the Foundry. This two-hour event was a key opportunity to bring together area leaders from the healthcare, service provider, non-profit, educational, and governmental organizations to listen to their thoughts on the key needs of the region. Nearly 100 people were in attendance. Jo Anne Lavender and Beth Hamil facilitated the brainstorming portion of the event to gather ideas for Trinity Health Initiatives for 2013.
Four of the five Trinity Health Initiatives for 2013 were confirmed by the input from the roundtable as the most significant opportunities for Trinity to encourage:
- 2013.1: Access to Preventive Care
- 2013.2: Healthy Life Choices
- 2013.3: Mental Health & Addiction Recovery
- 2013.4: Family Strengthening
These opportunities were selected from the 25+ that had been identified by the Trinity Board for consideration. The discussions with the event participants gave us confidence that we were on the right track for our initiatives. We plan to host further listening/convening events in the future. Our next key event will be a Proposal Conference in February 2013 to encourage area organizations to submit grant proposals related to these topics.
