2021 Phase I

Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee awarded 20 area organizations more than $220,000 in grants for this year’s Trinity Health Foundation Phase I awards. These grants will be used to plan community health-related projects that will compete for Phase II implementation grants later this year. More than ninety-five proposals were received from regional nonprofits and were ranked on impact and merit by the Trinity board. Issues addressed include physical and behavioral healthy life choices, neighborhood/community strengthening, COVID-19 community relief & recovery, and open topics. These groups will use the Phase I funding to research and plan details for project operations and sustainability culminating in a proposal for consideration of Phase II implementation funds.

This year both large organization and small organization grants are being awarded. Eleven Phase I large grants and eight small grants will go to nonprofits across the community. This year’s recipients and their projects include:

  • Next Step Initiative – Shining a Light on the Future of Free Transitional Housing for Knoxville Women in Recovery: Noon’s House
  • Operation Inasmuch – Grainger County Warming House
  • Our Place Company – Alzheimer’s Dementia Enrichment Program
  • Raising a Voice – Residential and Vocational Programming for Women of East Knoxville
  • Wesley House Community Center – Expanded Childcare Services and Food Pantry Operations

  • Street Hope TN – Garland Oaks – A safe place for child victims of sex trafficking to find hope
  • YWCA of Knoxville and the Tennessee Valley – COVID-19 Relief: Supporting Youth Experiencing Trauma
