Youth Resiliency from Prevention to Recovery Through Coping Conversations
Mental health and substance misuse often go hand in hand. Coping Conversations is an evidence‑informed program that helps students identify the root causes of vaping and other substance use while building healthier coping strategies. Through individual and group sessions held during the school day, students learn practical skills to make positive choices that protect their mental health and overall well‑being. Each participant receives an individualized plan tailored to their specific needs. Students can be referred through the schools, juvenile court, parents, or by self‑referral.
The program ensures that essential education, prevention resources, and support services are accessible to youth across Anderson County. Core goals include reducing favorable attitudes toward nicotine and substance use, increasing students’ perception of harm, strengthening positive coping skills, updating school policies through restorative practices, and connecting students and families to community resources.
