Creating GSC's Proactive and/or Maintaining Stable Low-Cost Housing
The Good Samaritan Center in Loudon County (GSC) heeds Matthew’s words, “…when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.” Matthew 25:40. GSC wants to provide more assistance for their community’s low-income brothers and sisters for their health and well-being. There appears to be little widespread awareness or action to address the growing unstable housing crisis. GSC plans to engage other entities, knowledgeable individuals, and influencers in first understanding the local low-cost housing situation and then testing potential strategies that could lead to more stability in housing.
At GSC, they see an increased need. More families are coming in for services in danger of losing stable rental housing or facing significant financial obstacles in securing it. From the local school systems, many families in crisis have children. GSC desires to help those currently in stable housing but at risk of losing it and those who are employed and qualify for housing but need financial assistance to get into it. These families live at the margins-just one unforeseen event away from becoming homeless.
