Mission

With a heart of service from the past and eyes turned to the future, Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee has been charged with improving the overall health of our region as reflected in its mission statement:

“Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee extends the healing ministry of Jesus by improving the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of our community.”

What We Do

Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee (Trinity) was founded in October 2011 as a supporting organization of the East Tennessee Foundation. Trinity pursues its mission by convening stakeholders to understand the critical health needs of the community while encouraging collaboration through project grants to nonprofit organizations in our region. Our efforts are accomplished via a volunteer board of 21 and a staff of two; hence we seek to empower other organizations through grants to pursue mutually beneficial endeavors related to our mission.

Each year, Trinity describes several Trinity Health Initiatives and solicits Requests for Proposals (RFP) from area nonprofits through a proposal conference and online solicitation at the Trinity website. From these proposals, 9-15 Phase I Planning Grants ranging from $5,000-$15,000 in both a Small and Large Grant Division and the last three months are selected by the Grants Committee of Trinity. Phase I Grants allow the recipient to do further diligence around the ideas submitted, gather letters of support for partnerships that will leverage the Trinity project grant, define specific milestones and metrics for the project implementation and create a detailed budget for the Phase II effort. The only deliverable for the Phase I Grant is the creation of a Phase II Proposal that includes a report of activities performed under Phase I.

Only successful Phase I Grantees are eligible to submit a Phase II proposal. The Phase II funding will be utilized to implement the plans and partnerships developed in the Phase I effort. Phase II grants have a duration of one year and a maximum amount of $50,000 in the Small Grants Division and $150,000 in the Large Grants Division. Trinity anticipates making 3-5 Phase II grants in both a Small and Large Grant Division annually, directed toward the updated initiatives each year.
