VACImpact COVID-19/Vaccine Project
People of color experience death rates and infection rates with COVID-19 much higher than others. Therefore, the solution to addressing this disparity is education and access. VACImpact has been developed to be used by the East Knoxville Free Medical Clinic (EKFMC) and its partners. VACImpact is an educational initiative to inform, engage, and build trust walls in communities of color about the importance of taking vaccines, getting tested, and accessing levels of medical care and preventive measures to stay healthy and prevent the increase in the number of deaths in the population of people of color in Knoxville, TN. The VACImpact will mobilize outreach workgroups and focus groups, host town hall virtual educational meetings, and door-to-door canvassing throughout the community. The target group will be primarily African Americans and other minority groups, underserved and underrepresented individuals. The EKFMC will serve as a host site for giving vaccines and conducting COVID-19 testing.
