Girl Talk, Inc. Sexual Risk Avoidance Education

Girl Talk, Inc. is dedicated to empowering young women in Knoxville to become their best selves by reducing the likelihood of teen pregnancy and helping them advance educationally by making healthy decisions, avoiding risky behaviors, and pursuing brighter futures. One critical issue facing our community is the intersection of opioid misuse and risky sexual behaviors among youth, both of which can have lasting impacts on their well-being. With opioid use linked to increased vulnerability to unsafe sexual activity, there is a pressing need for comprehensive prevention education that addresses both challenges simultaneously.

To combat these risks, Girl Talk, Inc. is developing a Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program in partnership with the Knox County Health Department. This program will provide youth with evidence-based education and practical skills to make informed choices, resist peer pressure, and build a foundation for long-term health. The curriculum will include interactive workshops, role-playing scenarios, and mentorship support, empowering participants to avoid both substance use and risky sexual behavior.
