Knoxville Family Justice Center

Faith Leader Initiative

The Knoxville Family Justice Center (KFJC), one of our nation’s and Tennessee’s first centralized domestic violence (DV) providers, seeks to engage Knox County faith leaders as catalysts for good community health with DV survivors. Studies show that victims who are members of faith communities often find great strength and comfort in their faith, and their faith community has the potential to be a pivotal support system in their help-seeking process. However, faith leaders often report feeling unequipped to provide victims with appropriate guidance and unsure about available resources. Through the Faith Leader Initiative, KFJC will provide training to faith leaders and build a coalition of faith leaders and victim service providers equipped to support the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of congregants affected by DV.
