Effective Neighborhood Youth Development
Many of the children/youth living in Knoxville’s urban communities are especially vulnerable to gangs who seek to satisfy a child’s need to belong, although with very unhealthy consequences. As a faith-filled organization, KICKO desires to provide an alternative to gangs’ faux sense of belonging through our adult leaders and volunteers who offer genuine, positive relationships and encouragement while helping the young people discover, develop, and grow their faith. KICKO focuses on the children/youth who live in areas where they often fall through the cracks. This proposed project would build on our already established children’s programs through an innovative expansion designed to reach more children and youth in our city.
