Biography
Dena Mashburn serves as the Director of Nursing for Knox County Health Department. She is originally from Arizona but relocated to Knoxville in 1998. Dena holds a bachelor of science in business from the University of Arizona, a bachelor of science in Nursing from Arizona State University, and a master of science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University. She has worked in the medical field for more than 35 years, in various settings, from hospital to community, first as a Registered Nurse and then as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She was drawn to Public Health because of the focus on population health and prevention. She and her husband, Willis, have one son and enjoy traveling, cooking, and spending time with family.
