The Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee has selected 17 area organizations to receive more than $200,000 in grants as a part of the 2014 Trinity Health Initiatives Phase I awards. These grants will be used to plan community health-related projects competing for five implementation grants later this year. Over 70 proposals were received from regional nonprofits, ranked on impact and merit by the Trinity Selection Committee. This year’s grantees include:
Access to Care:
o East Tennessee Children’s Hospital
o Good Samaritan Center of Loudon County
o Lincoln Memorial University
Healthy Life Choices:
o Loudon County Health Improvement Council
o Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee
o The First Tee of Greater Knoxville
Mental Health and Addiction Recovery:
o Cokesbury United Methodist Church
o Contact Care Line
o Helen Ross McNabb Center
Family Strengthening:
o Bethany Christian Services
o Fellowship Evangelical Free Church
o Friends of Tennessee’s Babies With Special Needs
o The Restoration House of East Tennessee
Open Topics:
o Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee
o East Tennessee Technology Access Center
o Knoxville Leadership Foundation
o New Hope Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center
These groups will use the Phase I funding to research and plan details for project operations and sustainability, culminating in a proposal for consideration of Phase II implementation funds.
