The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley’s (BGCTNV) mission is to provide a safe and positive environment for the kids to learn, have fun, and develop supportive relationships. This organization has stepped up to the plate to ensure this is a reality.
In March, BGCTNV started a Teens program at Vine Middle School to provide a safe environment for older youth. By extending hours of service, these teens have an opportunity to participate in programming designed specifically for them. Safety and a sense of belonging are essential to the Boys & Girls Clubs staff as they cultivate lifelong relationships with each student.
Teens may participate in a variety of activities. One program growing in interest is the YouthForce program. This program connects teens aged 14-18 with local businesses willing to invest in their training and development. YouthForce provides a range of activities to help teens develop the skills essential for workforce success. Several area businesses have expressed an interest in partnering with the BGCTNV and offering internships and job opportunities for those in the program. The extended-hours programming concludes at the Walter P. Taylor Club.
Club Director Sabrina Robinson is passionate about offering life skills courses and equipping students with the training needed to find employment in their areas of interest by providing additional programs to address financial literacy, starting small businesses, and life skills in general. Keep up the excellent work!
